8.0

Squarespace has long been the default recommendation for creators who care about design. Its template library sets the industry standard for visual polish: every theme is responsive, typographically refined, and ready to publish without modification.

For photographers, designers, artists, and content creators whose brand depends on visual presentation, Squarespace delivers a level of aesthetic quality that competitors struggle to match. Beyond templates, the platform offers a full suite of business tools.

The e-commerce module supports physical and digital product sales, subscriptions, and member areas. Built-in appointment scheduling, email campaigns, and SEO tools mean you can run a complete creator business from one platform.

The recently improved blog module supports rich media posts, and the Squarespace Video Studio (via partnership) makes it easy to create professional social content. Squarespace's main limitation is flexibility.

The drag-and-drop builder is structured around sections and blocks, which means you get beautiful results within the system's constraints but limited freedom outside them. Developers will find the customization ceiling frustrating compared to WordPress.

Performance can also lag on media-heavy pages. For most creators, though, the trade-off is worth it: Squarespace makes it genuinely difficult to build an ugly website.

Our take

Squarespace remains the best website builder for creators who prioritize visual design and want an all-in-one solution. If you need maximum customization flexibility or plan to run a high-volume store, look at Shopify or WordPress. But for a professional, beautiful web presence that you can build yourself, Squarespace is unmatched.
